Divan, as in Couch

In “Divan,” her quirky documentary film about coming to terms with her Hasidic roots, Pearl Gluck takes us on a trip to Hungary in search of a fabled couch once owned by her family, on which generations of famous rabbis slept. Though she has separated herself from the Hasidic community in which she was raised, Cluck has said that making the film has provided a way to reconnect with her family. “Divan” is currently making the rounds of theaters; check nationwide listings at: www.zeitgeistfilms.com
