With pain in our hearts for losses past and, we fear, losses yet to come, Lilith will in coming weeks and months continue to publish the stories of Jewish feminists about terror, loss, displacement, and connection.
The courage of survivors inspires me. So many people who step forward do not see justice in their cases, or in their lives, but they see themselves as part of a justice continuum.
This year, with some unlikely help from Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie, I finally have the words to explain why honoring Queen Esther with the name Hadassah is so important to me.

Exile can be a place for sustained nourishment: the same activism that led me out of Jewish community came to tether me back in.

At the seder we say, "כָּל דִכְפִין יֵיתֵי וְיֵיכֹל, כָּל דִצְרִיךְ יֵיתֵי וְיִפְסַח"—All who are hungry, let them come and eat. All who are in need, let them come celebrate Passover with us.
As we approach Passover, our hearts are with the hostages and their families--may they be liberated soon and return safely, with the people of Gaza facing desolation & hunger, and with the caregivers everywhere who are holding their children closer with every bomb overhead, and every scare, and every threat.

She wrote everything from Wonder Woman and The Powerpuff Girls to "From Girls to Grrrlz: A History of Female Comics from Teens to Zines" and "A Century of Women Cartoonists"—literally writing the history of women`s comics and mentoring the future. Her amazing comic about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was featured on the 1980 cover of Lilith.
