Barbie’s Jewish? Who Knew?

In September the Saudi religious police began campaign against Barbie doll; which, although officially banned from the Kingdom for the past 10 years, can be purchased on the black market. Speaking by telephone from Medina, Islam’s second holiest place, to the Associated Press, a spokesman for the Saudi Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice denounced Barbie as “a symbol of decadence to the perverted West.” Criticizing the doll’s “revealing clothes,” he more than once referred to Barbie as “Jewish,” thereby perpetuating the age old anti-Semitic canard about Jewish women as whores.
