Duberstein, a New York poet and playwright, sensitizes readers to the texture of words, to the way they sound and how they are put together on the page. Some poems are handwritten, others are laid out in a style that creates new mixtues of words and sounds. The section of the book entitled “Changes” deals with transitions of all types. It contains poems about Woodstock, about bodily changes a woman goes through, and about the changes time wreaks on people and things. It is a refreshingly individual book and enjoyable to read.
